Set on 350 acres on the coast of Maine, this house was designed for a large family to use as a vacation retreat and gathering place for several generations. The inspiration for the house was the shingle-style “cottages” that mark the New England coast. All the traditional materials used – stone, stained mahogany, copper, and white cedar shingles – will weather naturally. Over time, the house will mellow and settle into its landscape.
