NECN Dream Home: Essex, Conn. Sailor's Home

This week’s NECN Dream Home is the residence of a three-time America’s Cup Sailing champion. Tom Whidden, and his wife Betsy, have lived in the Essex, Conn., home for more than 20 years. Though the home is close to water – the backyard looks over an estuary that leads into the Connecticut River – the couple said its proximity to the marsh had no bearing on their decision. “He (Tom) opened the kitchen door and said done. That’s it, we want it,” said Betsy. Inside of the home, much of the interior design and complementing art drew on the colors of the nearby marsh. To view this week’s NECN Dream House, click here.
