Prepping Your Home For Cold Weather Months

Granted it’s only been fall for a short period of time, but in New England, it’s never too early to start thinking about the winter. In a Boston Globe interview with Kevin O’Connor–host of the PBS series “This Old House”–some of early preparation ideas are laid out. First, he suggest starting outside, suggesting that the fall is a great time to overseed or patch the lawn, and to plant bulbs in the ground now, so that they’ll pop up in the spring. From there, he mentions a number of other checklist items for the outdoors, including: Blowing out the irrigation system so it doesn’t freeze, shutting and draining outside spigots, cleaning the gutters, setting up bird feeders, and more.
